Hi, I’m Chris,

After cycling around much of the world, in 2020, I cycled the length of Greece and reached the Peloponnese, it was here that I experienced the best time I’ve ever had on a bike trip. It’s a rare place, where you can spend every day outside; from the morning pastries and cappuccino, via endless glorious roads and the odd island-hop, to ancient cities and amphitheatres and a modern-day, mass tourism-free, holiday paradise. Helen joined me and the plan to open Breakaway Greece was born, as somewhere we can share our simpler approach to life and cycling.

I write about some of these trips for the cycling website Road.cc and for research for finding the best coffee stops, I previously ran the UK’s coffee shop awards and wrote the first book about working ‘Out of Office’.

I previously worked with global leaders, celebrities and royalty to raise £millions on behalf of charities and good causes as Creative Director and consultant for the likes of Comic Relief, the legacies of the Olympics and FIFA World Cup and the United Nations, whilst also leading on initiatives for Nelson Mandela Day, ITV charity telethon and BBC’s children in need.

I am also the author of three books, a former Samaritan, have been named one of London's top 50 inspiring people and one of Britain’s most influential part-time workers.

Hi, I’m Helen,

I previously worked at EMI Records and hosted artists such as Tina Turner, Queen and Paul McCartney, whilst I’ve spent recent years bringing up our four children. My father was Greek (Chris & I were married in a Greek church) and so I was raised to believe that family, and hosting as many friends as possible, are at the heart of a simpler, happier life.

Together, we want to share our love for simple living, community, and the outside.
